ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT
PROCESS OVERVIEW
1. SETTING THE FOUNDATION – In what ways will researching Attendance and Tardy issues help
improve the educational process and school climate.
2. ANALYZING DATA – Find
out what plans are all ready in place also find out to what extent are parents
are to blame, if any type of positive incentives can or are offered it entice
students to come to school and make it to class on time.
3. DEVELOPING DEEPER UNDERSTANDING – I chose this research because it is an ongoing issue at
our school. I believe that if the
attendance and tardy issue is improved educational learning will improve. I still need to talk with my AP and find more
information on what other schools are doing.
4. ENGAGE IN SELF-REFLECTION – Last year I was ask to work attendance during my
conference period. I never realized how
bad attendance and tardy issues were.
I’m not sure exactly what I can do but, whatever I do I hope it helps.
5. EXPLORING PROGRAMMATIC PATTERNS – While searching the internet I found that attendance and tardy
issues are not just an issue here, but seem to be an issue in other cities in
the state of Texas.
6. DETERMINING DIRECTION – I am still not sure if this is what I want to so and the questions
I want to ask or should ask. In what way
would implementing an attendance and tardy plan help decrease the issues we are
having? Would implementing this plan
help improve student educational achievement?
7. TAKING ACTION FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT – I will need to figure out if I will need a committee to
help with this action research plan or just us the assistance of office
personal.
8. SUSTAIN IMPROVEMENT – To share the results with other campuses experiencing the same issues.
